They are professional footballers, yes they should enjoy themselves, but they need to perform as well. They were embarrassing the first night, seems yesterday was worse.
Suggestion on twitter to use oval ball for one test and make tests later in year. Makes sense.
Eh, no. I think I’d prefer a week with my mates in Byron Bay or Brisvegas shagging surfer girls, thanks, than a week in bloody Dromoland Castle under curfew in October.
SO, if I did go, as Kev says above, I’d be damn sure that I’d do a decent job. I’m not very competitive, yet I hated losing any match I ever played. Even now it pisses me off when the missus beats me at scrabble.
The Aussies used to want to come over here, rough us up a bit and show us the gap between amateur and professional. I read the thread on it on Big Footy and the posters there were embarrassed. Some didn’t give a shit, but plenty did. The game was also the top story in the footy section of The Age, online.
Doing a test with an oval ball would be entertaining for the sheer anarchy that would ensue and is worth a try. Sure why not. However, I don’t agree the round ball is the problem. My three year old can kick one with accuracy now ffs. The problem is that the Irish last night were bigger, stronger, faster and had better movement off the ball. The tackle, supposedly the great leveller, was completely nullified. They couldn’t get near us, and sometimes lads were bouncing off the likes of Cavanagh when they did.
Maybe they didn’t give a shit, and if they didn’t to the tune of 100 points than that’s a pretty sad reflection of themselves in a sporting context.

what absolute shit
this game is so far down the list of news in Australia. Its was the sixth or seventh thing on fox sports news. A ref punching a player in the middle east was deemed more important.I would honestly say 99% of Queenslanders wouldnt have known it was on
the problem is that the physicality has been taken out of the game. do anything aggressive in it and you miss AFL games. it would be similar to a footballer missing a champions league game if he got sent off in a testimonial. Once that got it the mix it was game over as the only way the aussies can beat the Irish at gaelic football is by using their physicality

Sixth or seventh is still well ahead of where League of Ireland soccer is in the pecking order of public interest in Ireland, mate.
[quote=“The Wild Colonial Bhoy, post: 852344, member: 80”]LOI is part of the football family mate

The League of Ireland is the abandoned child of the family, mate. At least when Madeleine McCann went missing there was a frantic search. The League of Ireland is still there but there’s nobody looking.
The person who pointed out that blonde Roma child to a TV3 journalist was a Shamrock Rovers fan by the way. Sickening racism.

we care about child safety mate, sadly not everyone does
A farce of a game returns this Saturday. Anyone who tells me otherwise would want their head examined! A well earned jolly up for players and officials at the end of the season, but not a game worth talking about!
