Shit Shops

A thread to record and discuss shops that are shit. Not shops that sell shit, sorry DB.

  1. Eason - still trading as a bookshop. Had the misfortune to visit their flagship branch recently and it’s as I feared, a shop selling wrapping paper, “light holiday reads” and precious little in the way of literature.

  2. Golden Discs - no idea how this place is still trading. A CD and DVD shop that is competing with the decline of those formats by stocking precious little of either.

  3. Gala - way down the pecking order of convenience stores. I think I’d go 1 Spar 2 Centra 3 Mace 4 Londis 5 Costcutter 6 Gala. Do people pay to be part of the Gala franchise group?

River Island.

Clothing for homos. Imagine the likes of glasagusban shops there.

Fresh. A shop built on overpriced lies

Maybe I should post this in the Things I Learned Today thread but, until now, I genuinely thought River Island was a women’s clothes shop.

I’m taking over Ivans and turning it into a camera/bicycle/bicycle repair shop. Unfortunately for him upping his price on his hot dinner counter was his undoing. Greedy cunt upped the cost of a large dinner from 5.75 to 9.95 in the space 3 years. I never went back.

I passed this shop front in Prague a couple of months back.

Golden Discs is a mystery. It was out of touch and closed in limerick around 8 years ago.

I fucking hate Topaz stations. Absolutely shite deli food, over priced diesel, shite staff - I could keep going…

ill smash your head in you vindcitive bastard

The Denim Store in Cork
is that maniac still working there?

What a shout Mickee. Maniac is a good description

a tall fella, he’d be hovering in the corner and then pounce on you forcing jeans down your throat

Debenhams

Always get the impression that each store I’m in is about to close down or something.

Lifestyle sports etc, I was looking for some actual sporting stuff recently. It was fucking impossible to get in any of the sports shops in the city centre. Elverys on Suffolk street was the only place that had any sort of actual sporting equipment.
The rest of them just seem to sell tracksuits & runners.

I need to buy a couple of tracksuits so I’ll head to Elvery’s. Which type do you recommend? The towel type material sometimes show sweat patches on the ass. Should this be avoided? I need a pair of slippers too.

There are a whole host of stores that should have been made redundant by the internet 10 years ago. E.g. Xtravision

The fact that they still exist shows how tech savvy society isn’t.

Sweaty arse Bartosz!

Ideally you should get a pair with buttons up the side, wear them with the bottom couple open.

These were cool the last time I bought a tracksuit anyway. I assume not much has changed.

Any of the Bamburys bookmakers… fucking dives, CRT tellys and manky furniture. I don’t know how they are still in business.
