The new one with Tony Watt is pretty good. He’s obviously not quite as unlucky as he makes out - he must be doing something wrong at all his clubs, but he seems like a good egg.
I can’t watch these due to “Si” Ferry’s cheeky chappy jocko demeanour and squeaky voice. Started to watch the Watt one last night but switched it off almost instantaneously after the initial banter about fashion and/or hair. Give me an 8-bullet point overview please.
Paddy McCourt was the best player he ever played with. Could nutmeg him when he had his legs closed. But Paddy also had lots of advice for young Tony about how to play the game.
James Forrest is probably next most talented. Not helped by injuries at the start, and then lost confidence. But was expecting him to improve under Rodgers and he’s a phenomenal player.
The best player he ever saw in training was Alan Thompson. (There were a lot of “best players”).
No falling out with Lennon. But Celtic tried to sell him in the January after he scored against Barcelona because they thought they were getting Juan Agudelo.
When Rogic signed, Rogic was a first team player already because he’d been a senior signing. Watt was seen as a youth team graduate and treated differently he thought.
Deila told him he liked him but he was going to go with Jo Inge Berget - hence Watt asked to leave at the end of that window.
Standard Liege didn’t work out because the manager got sacked. Blackburn didn’t work out because he got injured. Charlton didn’t work out because of something to do with Cardiff and a transfer embargo. Belgian club didn’t work out because manager got sacked. Hearts didn’t work out because Neilson got sacked. He liked Cathro but Cathro wanted his own guys.
Lambert was best manager he has worked under.
Scoring 2 on his debut was better than the Barcelona game because that was his lifelong dream.
He generally seems an affable chap but he doesn’t seem to have the natural confidence you probably need to be a striker in professional football. And he seems like he’s shit at training.
