I missed this.
Graeme Souness recalled that when, he was appointed manager in 1991, Peter asked him he would âdo the contractsâ as he had done so at Rangers.
What this meant of course was that Souness was tasked with negotiating playerâs wages as well all tasks commonly held by a first team manager.
Souness brought in Dean Saunders on huge wages pissing off the likes of Ian Rush etc.
It most certainly wouldnât happen these days.

Although I donât think heâd like to be called significant.
Iâm currently listening to his book The Art of Living on audible.
Of course, heâd also contend that he hasnât died, just transformed.
Great ASMR in listening to him speak
Consciousness never dies mate.
Well it will âdieâ when the universe âdiesâ.

He must have been as old as Methuselah
I would have had him down as older than that.

Yes - he coached the 1982 TC team
A colossus of Cork Constitution, Munster, Ireland and British Lions rugby. What service he gave to the game as a player, coach and administrator.
RIP Tom

He looked old then.
He did yeah. I suppose being involved with Irish rugby in the 70s would have put years on you.

The 70s is spoken about in very fond terms by the alickadoos
Ireland had a good team in the early 1970âs.
The 1960âs was a low enough ebb.

Was the famous âcriss crossâ try at Twickenham the 1960s equivalent of what Simon Geogheganâs try there 30 years later was to Irish rugby in the 1990s?
