Significant people's (not celebrities) deaths

Christ the darts lads are dropping like flies

John Gwynne’s voice and personality, like that of the also recently departed Harry Gration, epitomised something beautiful, something English, something northern, something humble, warm and welcoming. The England, the north of England, of colliery bands, trade unions, class solidarity, community, humour, quiet decency.

A disappearing world.

RIP.

I mourn the loss of John Gwynne more than I did that of Sid Waddell. I hold John Gwynne in the same high esteem I reserve for hall of famers. The likes of Richard Whiteley would have been in that category too. RIP.

His passing feels* like the death of a beloved Grandad.

*What it must feel like, my longest surviving Grandad died five weeks after I was born.

May he forever be in heaven, sniffing Adrienne’s knickers.

An uncle of Ger Aylward

"He was a proud Mullinavat man, rooted in his community, and personified the legendary spirit of his club, Ballyhale Shamrocks. This great sense of place gave Bobby a wonderful authenticity and made him the man he was.“. :man_shrugging:t5::man_shrugging:t5:
