That and Moneypoint on the other side of the estuary basically kept the Midwest afloat through what was otherwise a dark economic period in Irish history. Lads making what seemed like crazy money when the rest of the country barely had a pot to piss in (with the obvious exception of the comfortable north county Dublin existence of @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy and his ilk).
