RIP to Paddy Hill,

I don’t know what Twitter account that is but IRA sympathisers trying to jump on that miscarriage of justice is a bit much,

I suppose the argument would be that the callous attitude of the British state to Irish and lower class people in general as exemplified in this case is what lead to the existence of the IRA.

I don’t see anyone jumping on anything in that tweet myself.

RIP Paddy

Colm Connolly former RTE Arts and Media correspondent

Aw! RIP

RIP. A blast from the past.

His Christmas Eve news reports at the end of the bullet in about Santa setting off from the North Pole were absolutely iconic. He was the master of the genre & seemed like a mischievous sort who was up for a laugh.

On the ex RTE news correspondent topic, I see ex political editor Donal Kelly passed away over Christmas too. Another staple of the news coverage when I was growing up. When the report said he retired in 2002, my own mortality flashed before my eyes. Where do the years go?

I have memories of Colm Connolly on a clip from Reeling in the Years putting sun tan lotion on some random lady’s back during a heat wave - maybe 1976.

‘It’s tough work but someone has to do it’ was his punchline.
