Significant people's (not celebrities) deaths

You are uncanny with these predictions . I’d concur that a draw is the likeliest outcome.
If only there were half-witted bookmakers…… Mystic Mick might suit you……

I don’t know about that. Which side will have more shots on goal?

Take 1978 for example……

Kerry are down 3 while Dublin are down 4 of the starting 15.

What if one side used more subs? Have to count the minutes played

Just after seeing that on the news, can’t believe his jump from ā€œspaceā€ was 13 years ago.

Wyn Davies of Bolton, both Manchester clubs, Palace and several others has died a few days ago. He was a terrific man attack a cross in an era when the game was played thus.
Capped by Wales on 34 occasions when there was competition for spots up front…

A lovely guy. I did some work with him many years ago and he was very nice to deal with. RIP.

Pat Ronan, a very well known supporter and driver of soccer in Wexford passed away this week. Pat lived just up the road from me and I grew up with him coaching and basically doing everything at Bunclody AFC. He was a genuinely decent man and very, very funny with it. Devoted to his family and football. A huge loss. I’m very sad about this, he was a big influence in my formative years.

Sorry for your loss, the distance of an emigrant is never further than at times like this

It is and thanks for the comment mate, you’re absolutely right.
We had a county final in U12’s ( I think) and it was a home final for us.
Pat I think took some days off work and did a few jobs around the pitch. It was absolutely magnificent when we walked in that Saturday morning. Dug outs, sponsors placards around the pitch, impeccable dressing rooms. The pitch was lined and rolled, an absolute carpet. This was a local soccer club in 1984. The senior team were all there supporting us. All down to him. We felt like kings. We won.
I had many long conversations with Pat when I was 12, 13 years old about football. He was banging about AC Milan when I was barely getting my head around the fact that there was football outside of the English Division One. A true connoisseur.
There are people who influence your life. I have on this thread spoken about the passing of my godfather and how he was like a second Dad to me.
Pat was definitely one of those influences. I’m deeply upset at his passing.

Condolences on your friends passing Fitzy. Sounds like a great guy. Here’s a line……

There are some who bring a light so great that even after they have gone the light remains.

Had a recollection that Pat Ronan (did he run a pub?)was a Pats fan at one stage

I I remember Brian Kerr telling the story of someone from Wexford who collected cash that funded transfers.

Possibly one for the Celebrity Deaths…

Ex Porto captain & Portugal centre back Jorge Costa.

Age 53, took a heart attack at Porto’s training ground this morning. He was football director there & a club legend.

Captain of that Mourinho managed side when they won the CL. An uncompromising type.
