Bert Trautmann died today. A top class goalkeeper.

Below quote from the greatest ever goalkeeper shows what high esteem he was held in.

“There have only been two world-class goalkeepers. One was Lev Yashin, the other was the German boy who played for Manchester City (Bert Trautmann).”
—Yashin himself

1960s and 70s Kilkenny hurler Pat Delaney has died “after a long illness”. I was told years ago his speciality was hopping the ball off the ground with his hurley while solo running to avoid catching the ball too many times.

Mary McAleese’s father died over the weekend I heard.

RIP

whoever told you that sounds like an utter bore

Sid talks to himself a lot

The writer Elmore Leonard has died aged 87.

The noted Frech Barrister and defender of all kinds of dodgy sorts (Klaus Barbie, Milosovic, Carlos the Jackal) Jacques Verges, has died in Paris aged 88.

Pretty extraordinary life, there’s a great film in there. I’d love to know what he actually did when he went awol in the 70’s

FFS sake Fitzy.

Tom Gilmartin - key Mahon Tribunal witness, businessman and the bane of that arrogant cunt Pee Flynn - has passed away.

Wonder will Pee do a prayer for the faithful?
