Read somewhere recently that he had motor neurone disease. I did see a photo of him in the papers the first day the new council met last month after the local elections and he looked awful. It seemed very advanced, I think he had a helper with him at the meeting. RIP.

He was some rat. Pretended to his contituents that he objected to a planned development in the local golf club while all the while the company who won the contract were donating to him and Maria.
He even produced a letter of objection for them that he drew up. Planning authority confirmed later they never received any letter or correspondance from him in relation to it. A weasel

Not to speak ill of the dead and all that stuff, but if he knew he was seriously ill, why then did he put forward his name for the elections that only recently happened? It’s pure selfishness and egocentric when he knew he wasnt going to be fit to represent his constituents. He obviously didnt think he would die so soon, but he clearly wasnt going to be able to be a contributor to the council and would have been better off vacating his seat for someone who could fulfill their duties.
Why people voted for him is another thing, maybe they werent aware of how ill he was. Typical of politicians mentality though, entitled to their seat so they will hang onto it to the very end regardless.
Another by election now for the constituency.
That issue over the golf club had other involved parties too. One member of the golf club was protesting so much about it that the club members had a vote to kick him out, the only time ever a club voted to exclude one of their own members.
No they’ll be allowed to cop opt someone on to the Council.

I always think of Brian Lenihan Jnr trying to hide his terminal cancer diagnosis so he could be elected leader of FF for a short while and possibly even Taoiseach. It seemed to me reprehensible conduct, him just trying to fuck his party under a bus for his ego. Is it any wonder the ended up in the mess they did.
