You use ‘establishment’ like it’s a dirty word, who do I jump into defend? You’ll probably find that I condemn establishment figures and ‘defend’ anti establishment figures also

The Sunday Times had a piece a month or so back quoting lots of anonymous FG sources expressing their unease at Soundbite Si’s modus operandi. Saying they’re fed up of him commenting on everything & anything but not actually achieving anything. They also referenced his general election mishap with that care worker in Kanturk & how his team went into damage limitation mode the next day & Si rang her to apologise & said he’d arrange a meeting with her to discuss the issues in the sector. The ST contacted this woman & she said she hadn’t heard anything from him or his team since. Apparently he’s constantly out & about making promises to people but not following up at all. This is no revelation to TFK members, as @Locke ’s Department of the Taoiseach source last year said Si keeps himself very busy doing nothing. I can vouch for the skill involved here.

Promising to meet people to hear & resolve their issues, & not following through seems to be the common theme with Si. The ideal situation for him appears to be attendance at meetings carefully curated by his own team where he can grandstand & provide media soundbites but with no actions arising from them. This meeting with the Indian folk ticks the box beautifully here, as there’ll be plenty of publicity for Si, his message of support for the Indian community in Ireland isn’t contentious at all & & should be well received, & he won’t have to do anything else on the subject.
