I fooking love Andy Murray - hereâs a thread from ages ago when I was eulogising the ballsiness of the child.
What a comeback indeed - some exceptional heart and ability.
I like his âI donât give a scheidtâ attitude too - see him in the press conference after eating a Chinese take-away and answering the questions with his mouth full.
I hate his Ma though.[/quote]
Iâve grown to love and admire Judy as much as her son. Anyone that forces something as great as Andy out of her vagina must be cherished and respected.
Nice to see Murray reach his first major final.
Hss he not been in the us and aus finals?
I really hope Andy gets beaten but if he does win tomorrow he will owe it all to Judy who is a wonderful friend of tennis in Ireland.
One thing I do admire about Andrew is his stubborn insistence on getting every Davis Cup tie switched to the Braehead arena so he will play in it, before pulling out at short notice and forcing the English entourage to play in Scotland anyway. This pisses the LTA off something else but is apparently Judyâs idea as a way of getting revenge on the association who offered nothing in the way of financial assistance to a young Andy Murray when he was trying to make his way in the sport as a junior. He just wasnât English enough apparently.
Indeed. Iâm guessing sid was implying that Wimbledon is the only true major final.
Wonderful.
Was listening to Stephen Nolanâs radio show on 5 live last night and was surprised by how unpopular Murray was with the English callers. He was alleged to have a dour personality as well as being Anti-English. A considerable amount of callers said they hope he lost including John Mccririck. Others said theyâd get behind anyone who is British and it doesnât matter if they were English, Irish, Scottish or Welsh.
What was earthquake like TASE? Scary?
Correct. Iâm becoming worryingly predictable.
Still, it cannot take away from the undeniable truth that nobody gives a shit about the US and Australian Opens. If itâs not played on grass itâs not real tennis*.
Federer v Murray. Itâs the dream final any way you look at it and promises to be one of the greatest Wimbledon occasions of all-time, right up there with Virginia Wadeâs victory in 1977.
*I mean real, proper tennis as opposed to that game Henry VIII played, currently kept alive by Prince Edward, who I hope will be in the Royal Box with his Mum tomorrow in this special Royal year.
i thought the vet was taking the piss when he said can you feel that its an earthquake and then it stopped - so it wasnt that bad
the way he tells it is that he has never seen so much fear in a persons eyes before
Fed will destroy Murray.
The Americans look at Wimbledon as a quaint little antiquated load of shit. Backwards as most things British are.
Iâm American and I donât think that way at all.
Saying youâre American and being American are two different things.
Flushing Meadows is what us Americans are all about
Is it true Murray has never won a set in a major final?
The yanks donât give a fuck about tennis any more. The Williams are the only decent players they have. Havenât won a mens grand slam title in 9 years.
Yes.
Named after a toilet. Says it all. History, tradition, class and Alan Mills are things it will never have. Have you ever had a game of tennis on the road using the tar lines between the concrete as service boxes after watching the US Open? You have in your strawberries and cream. But you have after Wimbledon.

Apart from the Williams sisters, are there any decent female American tennis players?
What happened American tennis?
