Six Nations 2011

[quote=“Mac, post: 553327”]I hope France steamroll Ireland by 30 or 40 points.

:o

To be honest how Trimble isn’t in that team I don’t know. Likewise Wallace did more in two mins on Sat than D’arcy did in 78. Would have been far better for outside backs and Sexton had he started. Would also have dropped Best and TO’L for sure.

He is only expressing the views of 95% of the population

Source?

Considerinh Heaslip hasn’t played in 6 weeks+ Leamy had to be on the bench…No point having Jennings there and asking him to play at 6 when Heaslip runs out of steam…I agree that Leamy isn’t on form but is far more versatile Jennings, despite being a solid player for Leinster for me just isn’t up to being a Test level open side…

The ERSI

I question the validity of your source.

I can see Sexton being hauled off and losing his place unless he starts managing games a bit better.

I would have dropped those 2 as well Larry, but Wallace in for D’Arcy based on one game? I don’t agree with that. Gerry Thornley was suggesting that TO’L is NO.1 and thats it, he was never going to be dropped.

How would you have Trimble on there Lar? The wingers did nothing really wrong.

Fellas calling for Jennings is just mad, ye have very short memories.

Trimble has had a far better season than Earls. Thought Earls had poor game on Saturday. Kicked ball away too many times. Trimble on other hand has looked really sharp this year and is far more developed player than Earls
I’d have Wallace ahead of D’arcy based on the fact that the last two times our backline has functioned really well (NZ Maori and Oz) the 10,12 combination was Sexton and Wallace. Sexton seems to play a lot better with Wallace outside of him also.

Like they saw in NZ, you are allowed one bad game, 2 and you’ll be in trouble. D’Arcy needs to up it, but he has always (in my memory) played well against France.

In what way?

In the way he has consistantly showed he is not International class, much like a few other guys go clamouring for after every game. Reddan to an extent (even if i’ve been slightly more impressed recently), Wallace etc.

I’m also concerned about Earls though. I know he played with the Lions and all, but he really doesn’t seem to be learning at a rate you’d like to see and his development has stalled. I wonder about his head at the highest level right now, but he is young and has plenty time, its just worrying the way he hasn’t moved on.

Since jennings returned to leinster he has been one of the key players in the squad. He has played at a consistently high level for the past few seasons and his performances have been among the most underrated of any irish player. I don’t accept your point that he’s consistently shown he’s not up to it. How can he prove that he’s not when he’s never given a chance?

I’m basing it completely on his performances for Ireland, nothing else. I have been a long time admirer of him for Leinster and often thought he should get his chance based on club performance, but there is a big gap. He simply doesn’t have the combined speed, power and size for the very highest level. Some guys are just not able to bridge the gap, for whatever reasons.

And he has had plenty chances.

so you’re basing it off 9 odd matches over 4 years rather than the 20 games he plays every year for leinster? Seems an odd way of looking at it. What are the plenty of chances has he had? The 1 minute he got against wales last year? Or the 0 minutes he got last week?

Yes, the 9 times he played at the leval we are talking about (or any time i saw him), whats odd is you can’t accept they are different levels. He has also been so-so at “A” level, and i’m sure what they see in training leads to these decions as well.

If we changed the team like you want to all the time Mac we’d barely finish above Italy every year. Combinations and experience are huge at Int.

As well as the fact that he is simply an inferior player to David Wallace, even Wallace in average form, which he seems to be coming out of.

+1

If combinations are so important then why shouldn’t he be playing with his regular back row partners on sunday instead of wallace who’s never played with both before?

Look deeper Farmer, look deeper. While on the subject, Healy recently gave himself the nickname church

  1. Wallace has played with them before, Heaslip many times
  2. Because Wallace is just a superior player, cobinations come into play on close calls i would suggest.
