Sustained pressure for England from the start because we remain useless on restarts. Good defence in the end though and Best and O’Callaghan did well to force the turnover.
It’s an awful long time since we scrummaged like that against England. Quick tap works out well too.

Yeah we have improved a bit recently but over the long term we’ve been brutal for about 8 years or so at them.

Excellent start from Ireland. Made them make a few tackles too. Nice to play the corners as Sexton did first but it’s good to get running at them too. O’Brien and Trimble have had good carries so far.
More excellent defence. Healy and O’Callaghan that time with help from O’Brien.
Christ that was a late callback from the touch judge. Thought there were two forward passes - one from O’Connell and one pop from Heaslip. Last one was more marginal. Fair enough from the replay though, he called it at the time.
More great running though. O’Brien is doing great damage and we’re clearing out the rucks at great pace.
Now that was a great decision from Sexton. Perhaps a bit fortunate on the kick-off but wasn’t clearcut anyway and the forward pass a few minutes ago was marginal anyway.
Harsh penalty there. O’Connell only lost his footing because Easter tried to get up again with the ball in his hand. Tony Ward reckoned he wasn’t held… he certainly was. Heaslip had rolled away and O’Connell was always in contact with him.

Youngs paid the price for the stupid dig at Reddan earlier there I think. Nobody really demanding the ball from him but a stupid thing to do. Great kick chase from Bowe and Trimble there. Hook will have some apology for Trimble at half time no doubt.
That’s as good a half of rugby Ireland have played since the day we grew up as a nation. Excellent intensity, error count much lower. Better discipline while not compromising on physicality.
Christ, it’s awful annoying to watch these lads in some ways.
If we played like this against France and Wales we’d have walked another grand slam.
Instead we’re just acting as spoilers, which in itself given the opposition is somewhat hilarious but the what could have been is galling.
If we could play like this at the world cup we could do some damage.
Fucking hell that was a great chance for Bowe there. Badly rattled doesn’t come close to describing England.
