There’s no difference in how the rugby and soccer squads are treated. The rugby side gets criticised, and did so plenty a couple of years ago, when playing mediocre rugby. But like the soccer squad people stop caring when you win.
It just so happens that the Irish rugby squad win a lot more.
I like ireland winning anything…we all know we are shit at soccer and lacking talent .but apparently we have the world class rugby players and we produce that shit.surely you can see how that annoys people?..

No team wins international rugby games consistently playing all singing all dancing rugby. Id love to see ireland scoring 4 or 5 tries every time they play bit its not realistic approach

Ireland played some lovely rugby in 2007 and won diddly squat.
Taking Italy out of it, 9 of the 10 games in last year’s Championship were won by the home side - the exception a very fortunate last gasp England win in Cardiff in a game where Wales were the better side.
That’s a huge statement of intent from Ireland on the opening day going to Paris and winning.
