You do not watch alot of rugby so and are mixing up their recent record with their former more loose approach.

They have brilliant players but they are very pragmatic and we are not far off a lesser cousin of them now

Carberry and Lamour on the bench - presumably Schmidt hopes to open up a bit once the hard work is done. Talk of Ryan having a niggle and a Conway injury too. Not sure what other changes were likely.

Any Polaks or African players coming through? I’d say we are only 5-10 years away from having all our national teams dominated by first gen African / Polish players… The double barrel Irish African/ Polish names should be a handful…George Hamilton will really thrive

Yeah he’s one of the mercenary south African “project player” lads. Hes not even first choice for Connacht half the time but schmippatoni still picks him ahead of the Irish lads.

Surely he knows all he ever will about Kearney by now. You’ll hardly learn anything in the final 20 against Italy bringing lads on as subs. If carbery is the back up outhalf, wouldn’t he want to get some game time? Especially given sexton doesn’t have a great record of finishing 80 minutes in the 6 nation’s regularly. Italy is a shot to nothing, starting either carbery or larmour, or even both won’t lose that game. It’s not often you have a safe opportunity to start new(ish) players. Roux should be nowhere near it.

I’d say if Conway was fit he may have started. No way was he going to start Larmour - he was always going to ease him in.
