Lot of this in france is due to the attrition in the league due to the style most teams play. 26 regular season games plus playoffs plus europe. You dont have to win all your away games to maintain position so they pick and choose away games to target and just rest players. They play strongest team at home always because the fans would go apeshit if they didnt
The referee is influenced by the crowd in rugby more than any other sport. I read this in a book called Scorecasting, a kind of freakonomics for sport.

You have a very strange idea of a âdemolitionâ in sporting terms.
Iâve seen Ireland demolish Wales plenty of times over the years, so I know what a demolition is. 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2006 were demolitions.
A match where the result is still in doubt up to the last play, as it was today, is very much not a demolition.
