Was thinking the same. Slovakia had 3 on 2 there on the break and not even a “danger here”. He is half asleep these days
Plenty to work on but good half. Hard to see where the spark of creativity comes from for a goal. Crosses and corners our only hope.
We’ve looked good with the ball and the press is working well to a point. But once they get through it we seem very open
You must not watch many Ireland games. This is infinitely better than most of the games I’ve seen the last few years

Enjoyed that half. Even enough but we look very open when they counter.
The midfield has worked a lot better. Those side positions in a standard 433 seem like tough positions to make an impact in and we’ve been a lot better with the tweak in there. Hourihane much better sitting in and Hendrick much better more advanced. McClean and Robinson have both been good as well
You haven’t seen much of ireland so. That was a decent half of football as we go

Dont press. They are looking for us to do it. Hamsik is besting the press at his ease. Just let them have it up there.

Think we’ve played well for the most part.
Hendrick has been more involved than recent years. Trying a few risky touches that haven’t all come off but he has that free role to do it. Hourihane doesn’t have the same free role and needs to be more careful with the ball but he’s been mixed so far.
Think the wingers have done well. We look a bit exposed when they run at us. Think Hendrick can afford to come deeper when they have the ball around our box. McGoldrick drops back into the #10 type role anyway so Hendrick should be helping with preventing them playing it around in front of our box.
I wouldn’t say that . We look marginally better in that Department : they are very sloppy
The thread was missing a boring predictable Cork Cunt, he was filling the void as only they can.
They’re not that good on the ball. We’ve robbed it off them a few times in their half by applying pressure. I don’t think we should be changing that, but at attacking corners we need to have a much better shape.
Their one touch passing comes easy. Jeff Hendrick miscontrols every second ball he gets with his first touch
We’ve turned them over high up a few times with the press. They just need to get back faster once it’s gone past them

First 5 minutes. Not since. They’ve created more off our busted press than we have off winning it high
McClean has turned them over 3 times at least in their half. One for the corner just before half time

For all our possession you feel the only way we will score is by bludgeoning a goal through forcing a mistake or getting a bit of luck with a deflection or stray pass breaking for us.
Some nice passages of play with us keeping the bell in their half but they have broken numerous times really should have scored before half time. Hamsik is the best player on the pitch by a distance.
