Need to get one for my lass who’s doing an online photography course. She’s just gone 12. There’s takes on eBay. Anyone know anything about what would be a reasonable starter camera for a 12yo?
She may well get bored of it so don’t want to throw out a bundle of money. I can always get her a better one later if need be.
I haven’t a clue as usual.
Needs to be SLR (not south Limerick ref)
Why does it need to be a DSLR?
Dunno mate. That’s just what the lad doing the course said 🤷
Do you mind giving details of the course?
Mine might like it
No trouble. It’s a Firetech course. The beauty of these is you can use childcare vouchers on the mainland.
I’ll try and link now.
Price range?
Dunno really. Was thinking absolute max £200 second hand, but hopefully less than £150. It’s only really to learn on.
Pleasure.
I got my lass a Canon 4000D, probably out the range you are willing to spend.
How old is she?
Does she like photography?
Where side are you on the new st divide
I bought a Nikon D3100 a good few years ago, I see there’s a good few second hand ones knocking about eBay for handy prices.
Some ideas here. Sony range is one that was recommended to me recently but they are pricey even for entry level camera
She was 14 when I got it for her, a few years back, she does like photography.
Should have canopies and proper external seating on New Street, would be great.
A mirrorless would be the easiest to learn about exposure on IMO but they are mad dear and the lenses are worse with a small 2nd hand market. A Sony DSLT would make a great starter camera.
It’s half way between a DSLR and a mirrorless and I reckon it would make a great camera to learn on as you see in the EVF the changes your are making to the settings. 2nd hand Sony Minolta A mount lenses can be had for cheap too.
Otherwise just get a 2nd hand canon rebel crop sensor.
Here’s an eBay link to an auction for one with a lens.
Are you looking for a SLR or a DSLR?
I don’t know. What’s the difference?
One is digital, the other is not.
