Kicking off in earnest this Sunday with the Super Cup First leg between Athletic and Barcelona. Athletic should be competitive as they’ve already come through a fairly arduous 2 legged Europa Cup tie against Young Boys BSC of Berne. Obviously it will be interesting to see if Barcelona can maintain the momentum of last season’s unprecedented treble.
Vamos!
Why did Athletic get the other spot in the super cup, thought the league runner’s up normally get it, or do the spanish do their own thing?
The Spanish and the Basques do their own thing.
The Super Cup would have been a great jolly for the TFK Barcelona Supporters Club’s first outing of the new season. Pikeman obviously never checked his texts.

Hurling first, everything else second.
Sledge/Soul - have Athletic and Zaragoza signed anyone of note over the summer?*
- Other than Jermaine Pennant going to Zaragoza, which I read about.
No, no major developments other than SD’s avatar.
This is the squad that will be representing the Basque nation in the highly prestigious Europa League once Tromso have been dispatched.

1-0 down came back, 2-1 down with 10 minutes to go, and they’re now 3-2 up. The Catedral is absolutely rocking
Pennant scored a last minuite equaliser in the exhibition derby against Numancia tonight. Two reds and a goal in injury time and Zaragoza win on pens.
Supposedly a deal was done for Negredo on Monday but Sevilla have nipped in for the prize.
Signed the Croation Marko Babic from Hertha, he scored tonight too.
Lazio keeper Carrizo is on loan as part of the Matuzalem deal.
Hopefully Juan Florn from Boca and Garay from Madrid, who was on loan at Santander last seasonm, on the way.
So no major developments then, as I said. Minnows
Sledge/Souldressing
Any chance one of ye could give a quick run down of the bigger transfer deals in spain this summer outside of Madrid/Barca
Sky Sports have agreed a new 3-year deal to cover La Liga. Real Madrid vs Deportivo is first up on Saturday at 7pm.
Just saw that alright. Zaragoza on live at 9 as well.
was just after doing aa search to post that very news…you beat me to it you fucker!
Valencia leading ten man Sevilla 1-0…Kanoute sent off in the first half…Valencia’s pitch is a disgrace…
Outragiously good second goal from Valencia there considering the surface…Super football
I wasn’t really paying much attention to the Barca game in the first half but they’re 2-0 up on Sporting Gijon through goals from Bojan and Keita. Paying more attention now to see how the magnificent Zlatan does.
Expecting these bastards to score at least 2 in the second half. They better do anyway…
I feel a bit sorry for Zlatan here, Bojan just isn’t on the same wavelength as him.
This Chygrynskiy should be a good signing for Barca too. I’ve been a fan since Celtic were in Shakhtar’s group in the CL 2 years ago and was bigging him up here on last year’s UEFA Cup final thread.*
*I’ve an incredibe eye for a player, you see.
Bojan goes off and Zlatan scores on his home league debut.
What a fucking footballer.
