Boyd really is a horrible character. Other TV pundits have allegiances but they’re broadly typing objective enough. Or if not, they use sarcasm or good natured humour to get a reaction from the other side, e.g. McCoist and Sutton. But Boyd starts off from a position of bad faith and has no likability factor. He takes public stances against Celtic players in his TV appearances and media columns, ridicules new signings before they’re played and so on. Kinda trying to hound them and/or get them match bans etc. He’ll also defy fact or logic in reviewing specific match incidents to always come out in favour of the huns or against Celtic. He basically makes Sky’s coverage unwatchable by being a thick as shit, illiterate and all round dirty orange bastard.
