Lots of random Celtic and other stuff dotted around various threads so setting this one up for match discussions and the likes.
Anyway great to see another chasm developing at Ibrox with a stand-off between Le Guen and Ferguson. Most of the supporters seem to be favouring their captain over their manager so could be troubled times ahead.
EXCLUSIVE: AXED BAZ: MY RANGERS CAREER IS OVER
Skipper’s feud with Le Guen explodes
By Keith Jackson And Gordon Parks
BARRY FERGUSON told stunned teammates he will never kick another ball for Rangers after being sensationally stripped of the captaincy.
A seething Ferguson stormed out of Murray Park yesterday, refusing to take part in training, after manager Paul Le Guen told him he was dropped for today’s trip to Motherwell.
Record Sport understands Le Guen took the drastic action because Ferguson refused to follow his tactical orders during the second half of Rangers’ 1-1 draw with St Mirren.
But Ferguson reacted furiously to the snub and, after bursting into the firstteam dressing room, asked for a binbag so he could empty out his locker.
Ferguson then insisted his Rangers career was over to the astonishment of his colleagues.
An official club statement was released last night claiming Ferguson has been axed for one game only but it is more likely this will result in the end of either the captain or the manager.
The statement read: “Paul Le Guen has confirmed he has chosen, on this occasion, to drop Barry Ferguson for tomorrow’s game and the captaincy has gone to Gavin Rae.”
Rae, who has started only three matches this season, will wear Ferguson’s arm-band at Fir Park today in a match which may determine the Frenchman’s future at Ibrox.
Le Guen made his stunning decision without consulting chairman David Murray, who is set to cut short a break in France as his club lurches towards complete and utter chaos.
If Rangers - without Ferguson - fail to beat Maurice Malpas’ side then Le Guen’s position as manager may be untenable.
But Murray is also aware of a major split in the dressing room and suspects Ferguson wields too much influence.
Yesterday’s dramatic developments have stunned Ferguson - who was locked in talks with his advisers last night - to the core.
But, unless Ferguson is willing to back down in his increasingly bitter feud with Le Guen it is likely Murray will be forced to decide which man is the most important to his club.
Ferguson does plan to attend today’s Fir Park showdown, the result of which may well determine Murray’s final decision.
