The the tv deals theyāve locked themselves into is the reason they arenāt playing a āchampionshipā.

There will be a limit on āmass gatheringsā until the end of the year at least. You can forget championship for this year. The best youāll get is a few club games and finishing out the league.

I think its too early to tell anything yet lads, thereās a good chance thereāll be no championship, but sure why make that call now? Why not wait and see
Iām pretty sure 5k limit on gatherings and the tv deals are the reason. Basically money. If they break from agreed structures it voids the deals. Sky will laugh at them and rte arenāt going to pony up extra cash to compensate the lack of gate income is my reading of it.
Sure the 5k limit on gatherings is only till September and could be reviewed in time. The TV lads would surely prefer some matches to no matches. If we are still in lockdown at that stage viewing figures would be through the roof

Only two rounds of the league to play so you could conclude it in 7 days.
Finishing the leagues out and scrapping the Championship has always made sense to me with the current situation.
