On RTE studio discussion panels, Eamon Dunphy used to regularly pick put two random Irish sportspeople of perfect character who he would unfavourably compare association footballers to.
One week it would be DJ Carey and Ruby Walsh, the next Tony McCoy and Brian O’Driscoll, the next Henry Shefflin and Rory McIlroy, the next Katie Taylor and Ken Doherty, the next Barry Geraghty and Podrick Harrington.
Similarly, Roy has developed the niche of picking out two random historic buildings of culture to favourably compare Dublin pubs to.
In this tweet it’s the Louvre and the Duomo, in the next one it might be Notre Dame and the Sydney Opera House, the next one might be the Alhambra and the Colosseum, the next one might be the Parthenon and the Palace of Versailles, the next one might be the Taj Mahal and the St. Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre.
