To show this up here, in 08/09 when he won his player of the year at City, they finished 10th and lost at home to Chelsea, in a game Lampard scored, and lost away to them. They lost at home to Liverpool, he scored in that one in fairness to him to help them lead 2-0 at half time and lose 3-2. They drew away to Liverpool and Gerrard was out injured. They lost at home to Utd, in a game Ronaldo was sent off in, Scholes didnt play. And lost away to them too, Scholes came on as a sub. So in his “dominant year”, he got 1 goal, 2 yellow cards and 1 point out of 12 when up against the 3 players he dominates, who actually only played in three of those games. A complete and utter spoofer.

I’d imagine he was part of the Manchester City team which lost 6-0 to Chelsea back around 2007 too. He didn’t match Lampard that day anyway.
I’d say if you went back over all the games he was up against those 3 I doubt he came out on top in many of them.

who said he was in awe of them? He said they never got the better of him. Every time he played against them on the day he did better than them. Whilst losing pretty much every time. You dont have to be in awe of a player to realise that they won the game and played better, his delusional self thinks he was the best around and no one could match him.
He was a top class player who could have been a star only for his own issues. His loss to Irish national team set us back 10 years in my opinion.

Ireland said he could easily compete with all 3 which is correct in my opinion. All 3 were good players but not world class like Zidane.
He could have, but didn’t bother his hole.
Hard to believe he’s only 36. He seems like a player from another age. A classic of a lad with a great future behind him.
