You knew hurling was fucked when Offalys pure hurling style wasnt effective anymore.
The amount of bad /lazy tackling is a consequence of the emphasis on possession . The huge amount of âhandpassingâ is the genesis.
Seen that suggested by somebody. Now itâs more than likely a lack of imagination on my part, but how would that work? Does it mean youâd have to juggle the hurl to the other hand too?
Very very badly at junior level
I never attained those heights.
When crowds come back it will all be fine again.
Even the Antrim v Wexford game the other day was like a different sport to other nonsense that was played.
Without it going pure Aussie rules mayhem is placing an emphasis on not being caught in possession not a good thing? It can be moved quickly and accurately along with pulling or flicking.
I just want ground hurling back dammit.
The ball should be handpassed off the Hurley .
That would certainly eliminate the throw.
Yes
Total hurling
The reason players get bottled up is because they are too ponderous on the ball .
Itâs difficult to execute but if the idea is to discourage people from handpassing?
Not so sure about that. Youâd often see a player raise the sliotar off the ground and immediately be surrounded by opponents.
Ah ya - that will happen a good bit but more often than not it will be lads being a bit slow
Yesterdayâs discussion I know but theyâd be a certain, Iâm not a cry baby attitude in the GAA.
I remember years ago when I did some coaching at county underage level and Iâd have been fairly familiar with all the players in the county. A certain small county club came into us one evening for an all county league match and they were playing two illegal players.
I said it to the club secretary anyway and he started laughing at me. âWeâd be the laughing stock of the countyâ he says, if I complained about that. He was right of course. A wiser head than mine at the time. Itâd be the same with illegal hurls.
A bit more of this is what we wnat
âOver the barâ says Lory MeagherâŚ
The ball should be handpassed off the Hurley .
This is the rule I want to see trialled. It really goes side by side with the dropping the hurl rule.
