Parkinson is what I’d call a complete wanker. He’s a take out merchant who’s clearly not very smart. His big speal about Des fucking Cahill not asking john Horan the tough questions. I mean what does he expect
A what now?
*spiel
Is that chippy little Nordie still on it?
Narrow that down a little.
I have no time whatsoever for Parkinson and his bullshit podcast since he tried to humiliate a good man like Babs Keating last year in Thurles.
Babs needs to be consistently taken down a peg for the damage he did to Tipp hurling in his return in the 00s. I suppose you are going to justify the carry on at the time.
I find Parkinson a really good anchor on the hurling show. The recent one with JJ was very good. He even got Cody relaxed. I just think he can find a few better panelists in both codes. The weaker ones would make you turn it off.
That was awful stuff. Really bottom of the barrel stuff. I think I had to turn that off it got so bad.
Wooly is box office.
Very bad form. But not Woolly’s fault that the Tippos weren’t capable of talking about anything except drink.
What damage did he do?
He took over a shambles, tried his best, it didn’t work out.
Tipp weren’t going to win anything those years either way. 2006/07 was arguably an improvement on 2003/04/05.
The facts are he’s an old man and Parkinson set Him up like a mug.
What was that about again? I remember something about Parkinson acting the cunt at the time.
Whatever you say about Babs he’s a stone cold legend who has done it all as player and manager.
Me too. Doesn’t pretend to be an expert
So you think the dropping of Kelly and Cummins were justified? So he could win a few bets by putting Willie Ryan on the frees.
The culture of the panel was set by him. Turning up pissed to meetings and bringing his cronies on team buses when players had to sit on the floor.
Kelly was injured and missed the Cork match.
It was complacent not to start him v Wexford but ultimately he was on the field for 53 minutes in that match and didn’t do it really. There isn’t a shred of evidence, the Willie Ryan betting thing against Limerick is true.
Cummins being dropped was a big call but ultimately made no difference. Gerry Kennedy was actually good that year.
As regards turning up drunk, Babs doesnt drink as far as I’m aware.
Bringing elderly people on the bus? That’s what men of that era would do. That wasn’t the winning and losing of anything.
Tipp were miles off it at the time. Simple as.
I’m not going down this path with you.
I thought Babs was a tee totaler too. My grand father used to work with him at Esso and was also a pioneer. He told me that Babs would be back in work on the Tuesday mornings after Munster and all Ireland finals. A thorough pro he used to maintain.
Pretty sure babs doesn’t drink. He is fairly religious. Fellas like him and Richie Bennis are legends but the game moved rapidly away from those types in the 00s.
Great interview with him in one of the sunday papers a couple of years ago. He tore Len Gaynor asunder in it.
