Summer 2012 Transfer window thread

Probably 12 million rising to 16 million based on success and international appearances, etc. Still mad money when you consider what Alba moved to Barcelona for.

Plenty of Journos saying Carroll’s days are numbered at Liverpool and Clint Dempsey is on the verge of signing.

And the fact Leighton Baines is shit.

I’d imagine Liverpool should have no bother redeeming £15-20m for him given his strong ending to the season and a middling showing at the Euros, given the fact he is English.

Just how good a player is Clint Dempsey, can’t say I have seen much of Fulham over the past few years but he seems to be getting rave reviews

He’s no Andy Carroll…

Good. But not great. Attitude, strength and determination are his real attributes and he is versatile.

This signing is probably more about the brand, on the back of the warrior kit deal and upcoming fox documentary, having an American on the first team for shirt sales and interest etc as they try break into the American market.

16M for Englands 2nd choice left back

Evra needs replacing and with Fabio farmed out to Qpr a left back is an essential purchase. At least Baines can take set pieces.

Baines is a good player but that is crazy money.

Oh well that makes that sort of money ok then

Moyes must be creaming himself.

Robinho - £32.5 million
Dzeko - £27 million
Adebayor - £25 million
Milner - £26 million
Santa Cruz - £17.5 million
Lescott - £22 million
Jo - £18 million

Havent gone back to check if its been mentioned already but thoroughly alright sort Kevin Kilbane has joined Coventry on a one yr deal.

Oh fran

City have a bottomless pot of money, they’re not trying to roll out share deals to pinch a penny or two here and there like the US ‘owned’ poor neighbours. United are shit broke and spending 16m on Leighton fucking Baines, I just find it quite amusing. City can afford to bankroll the rest of football with loan deals and paying half of players wages like Adebayor etc.

No comparison, especially when there was no ‘Financial Fair Play’.

Oh well that makes that sort of money ok then

Its like a poor man scratching the ground for 5c when someone like flano and BT can afford to leave $1000 tips.

City are the exception to all rules when it comes to spending, of course I’m sure Financial Fair Play will no doubt solve all of that *

*insert sarcasm here.

It doesn’t make wasting that sort of money any less retarded though. They would have been better off building an indoor ski slope in Salford

Not an image we need.

So Brendan Rodgers seems to think Andy Carroll doesn’t fit into his system of playing. That’s good to see. I have always expressed reservation about Carroll, particularly his lack of ability to play in a fluid, rotating attack.

He needs to be replaced though. I am not blown away by the sounds of Borini.

Reports that Napoli have stolen a march on Gaston Ramirez by making a bid. I’m disappointed by that. I thought the fact that Suarez and Coates were at the club would be a draw.

Lewis Holtby and Julian Draxler have also been targeted by Liverpool according to Duncan Jenkins.
