He had only a year to run on his contract as well at Burnley.

Crazy stuff.

That John Stones transfer last year has set a crazy precedent.

It’s not a mad price for Keane in the current market, he’s hardly put a foot wrong in 2 years, solid out but he’ll be more exposed at Everton

He only had a year left on his contract. About 5 years ago Van Persie went for £20m with a year left on his contract

He’s a donkey.

 that was predictable

Stating the truth was predictable.

Imagine.

Eddie Nolan to Crewe Alexandria 1 year deal

Jonathan Walters to Burnley for £3 million.

BBC are reporting that Utd have agreed a fee with Everton for Lukaku

Maureen is panicking. Sold him for 28m cos he wasn’t good enough for Chelsea and now he’s good enough for Man Utd at a cost of 75m.

Everton have been very busy spending that money already so it’s only a matter of time. £75m, while obviously insane, is probably not bad value for a proven premier league goalscorer considering where valuations have gone. Only 24 as well.

Transfer price inflation.

In 1979 David Mills broke the British transfer record when he became the first half million pound footballer when he moved from Middlesbrough to West Brom. The cost of an average house in Dublin was 32k. The cost of the average house now is 367k so an eleven fold increase in an asset we consider to have become almost unaffordable. The increase in the value of moderate footballers is 150fold. Outperforming the housing market by a factor of 14.

Yeah it seems like a complete panic buy to purchase the second highest scorer in the Premier League from last season - a player being openly courted by the Premier League Champions.

Much better move than Morata and, as stated, he’s only 24.

I agree with this.

I think Lukaku can be completely closed out of matches relatively easily but he does have a decent goal scoring record.

Cool story.

If only we’d used all our Celtic tiger money to buy footballers instead of houses :pensive:

Would they have been as well off throwing another 30-40m in and trying to buy the Tottenham goal machine or would he have any interest in dropping down a level?

For what it’s worth, I reckon Lukaku could do very well at United, suiting their long ball tactics

Precisely.

Well down on the £100 Million figure that was being bandied about since the end of the season but still a tremendous sum of money for someone who many at Everton will be glad to see the back of. Reckon the figure will rise with add-on’s etc,
