Super Blues 2017

Weā€™re baaaaaack! :ronnyroar:

That couldnā€™t have gone much to be better, it really could have been 8 or 9. Totally wiped the floor with them. Sligo were particularly awful to be fair but the new lads looked really good- Hery is definitely a footballer, Robson has decent defensive instincts, we all knew what Turner & Clarke provide, Ogbene will terrorise defences and Tosi barely had to run today and he had a hat-trick. Only one game in but heā€™s all we could have hoped for.

And Lynch  Tosi was always going to get MotM after scoring 3, but Lynch is a class, class act.

Top of the league and we wonā€™t fear any team this season, put together a decent squad. Tougher tests to come but we have reason to be optimistic. Class.

How was Fuscos pal?

Between the exploits of Limerick FC and Mary I these are great sporting times for the mid west.

Side note, did Russell forget about all the penalties in Tosiā€™s highlights video? Roofed an absolute shit load of them. And then he lets Turner take one of the tamest penalties of all time. The Brazilian should have had 4.

Ogbene really should have scored with his one-on-one too.

Just back from the biggest sporting event in Limerick tonight.

Itā€™s just like watching Brazil :brazil:

Ah that was lovely. Tosi has zero pace but doesnā€™t need it, a proper old school pro. Terrific poachers hat trick. Pointing to the badge after his goals - growing up in the shanty towns around Rio it was always his dream to play in Garryowen on a cold, wet Friday night in February.:clap:

Just an all round terrific display. Could have had ten. Russellā€™s teams always play some great stuff. The French Tom Huddlestone looks the part too. Ogbene is a physical specimen, heā€™ll wreak havoc against tiring defences.

Still have defensive vulnerability. As bad as Sligo were they scored one and Freddy made two other great saves. Mind you BTTS and a Limerick win was a generous 16/5 so will forgive Freddy that blunder. :pint:

A crowd of 2,357. Most of them will be back after seeing a great game of entertaining football.

Only downside was Turner - otherwise excellent - producing the worst penalty Iā€™ve ever seen and the shambolic pre match organisation with thousands queuing to get in before kick off.

@Watchyourtoes Chops and co are bringing a bus up to Buncrana for the Derry game next Friday!

Brilliant start to the season. Derry and Dundalk (both away) up next but we fear no cunts in this league. :soccer: :ronnyroar:

Len Dineen Senior and Len Dineen junior distraught so that rounded off a lovely evening.

Decent crowd , very good performance but god Sligo were bad . They have been downsizing since whey won the league last . Think they will really struggle and barring there are three worse teams you would really fear for them.

Tosi will score goals but he might be a bit of a luxury on away days v better teams .

Overall very encouraging from Limerick and we Might be capable of a top half finish .

We finished in the top half in 2014 under Taylor with Gaffney, Djilali, Oji, etc.

I reckon we have a better team now, bar maybe defensivelyā€¦ Oji/Folan was perhaps a bit better than Williams/Whitehead but we definitely have more depth now.

People laugh at Pat a bit for shooting his mouth, and promising the world but I reckon we can have a real crack off anyone this season. Sligo were really shit admittedly.

Agreed that Lk are better but I think the standard in the League is far better than 3 years ago . I like to be a little grounded but we will be wiser in two weeks as to how good Limerick are.

Bit harsh -Away to Derry and Dundalk is as tough as it gets and hardly a fair barometer

Well that may be true.

Cork, Dundalk, Rovers, Derry- youā€™d expect to be up there.

Outside of those though? I know thereā€™s a lot of talk about Bray but Iā€™d see them as fairly similar, Galway fans seem optimistic enough too. Pats have lost a few key players, and were poor last year; Bohs similar, Sligo looked shocking tonight.

Iā€™m not saying weā€™ll definitely come 5th or anything but thereā€™s no harm in a bit of ambition and I think we should be aiming for that. With another good centre-back on board, who knows?

No expectation on Limerick to get even a point from those trips to Derry and Dundalk but Iā€™d fancy us to give a decent account of ourselves in both. Wouldnā€™t be shocked to dig out a result next Friday. Patterson apparently went off injured for Derry tonight too.

Squad way stronger than last year. Mulhall, Oā€™Conor and Ogbene came on as subs. Kenny, Oā€™Flynn, Treacy didnā€™t play at all.

That post would be more acceptable after 3 or 4 losses pal.

After tonights performanceā€¦thoughts have to be about winning the league surely.

I said wiser , not certain . They are two tough ones but Derry will be in Buncrana and Dundalk are in a bit of transition . If Limerick are competitive in these fixtures we can move forward with good confidence .
