Champions!
Iām away next weekend pal, bit of a disaster to be missing this Cup game.
Will you go yourself? Should be a decent travelling support on the night. Pity itās not on the Saturday. Friday is awkward for people with work until 5pm etc.
Iāll maybe try and get off work half an hour early and head up; it is a bit awkward but canāt really miss it. Richmond is one of the last grounds in the league that I havenāt been to either, somehow missed every away trip up there.
Iād expect a decent crowd to go up alright.
Richmond Park is only up from the Red Cow, youād do it in 2 hours no problem from Limerick. Would the traffic be bad heading out of Limerick on a Friday evening?
Wouldnāt be too bad, I was a bit more worried about the traffic on the Dublin side.
Youād be going against most of it, itās 10 mins from Red Cow.
Disappointing result last night; I suppose it was always slightly unrealistic that weād go through the entire season unbeaten in all competitions but we had that hope. I was really hoping for European football next season.
No real arguments about the result tbh. Although we dominated possession in the first half, we didnāt create any clearcut chances really. Pats were happy to let us have the ball and although they didnāt do much either, they went in 1-0 up. Byrne absolutely did Tracy, cut inside and his shot took a horrible deflection past Freddy. Horrible goal to concede but they probably should have had a penalty just before that.
In the second half, they were by far the better team. We were chasing the game but didnāt get men forward, our breaks were too slow, our passing was a bit aimless and they looked a lot more threatening. Again, the 2nd goal was sloppy- Fagan lurking at the back post after they finally won a corner in the air. But Hall had to make a few super saves to keep us in it. By the time we really started pushing men forward, it was a bit too late and we had a few half-chances but nothing blatant.
Does it tell us where we really are? Pats are currently 6th in the table, if we were in the Premier, thatās about where Iād expect us to be. That said, they have some serious players, are definitely underachieving and are finally on a bit of a run. We were lacking in the final third, definitely- a lack of pace for counter-attacks and a lack of real dynamism. Aaron Greene was way off the pace, really poor, not sure if he was unfit. Kenny was just ineffective against Bermingham, Mulhall worked hard but Iām not even sure heās really a striker. Lynch was the exception, a real threat but not enough support for him.
Oh well, we can still beat the fuckers in the Marketās Field.
Entertaining game tonight- Limerick 2-2 Oman.
Very small crowd, Limerick had 3 triallists on show, played 23 players in total- no sign of Sean McSweeney. And is Seamus Sharkey still alive? Two of the triallists started, big lad up front, I think Ba was his name. Looked okay- not a great touch, very strong though. The other guy was a midfielder, looked like a lumbering oaf. Dunno where they pulled him fromā¦ couldnāt really hear what his name was, JP Dillon didnāt do a great jobā¦ Jamal something, I think. Sounded like Blingblang but I presume that wasnāt it.
He gave away a penalty which they scored from, after Ba had put us 1-0 up after a good run from Russell. They went 2-1 up before the break with an absolute cracker. Had a few lads who were able to hit a ball, Hall made a couple of good saves. Replaced everyone at half-time and OāFlynn scored a typical OāFlynn goalā¦ ball into his feet in the box, swivel and shot straight past the keeper. Looked like the OāFlynn we want to see. They brought him off again so Mann could get a run. Mann was denied a blatant penalty in the last few minutes. Linesman flagged it but the ref just stood there like a muppet. He also failed to play advantage when Mulhall had just played Mann clean through, after an earlier foul.
Entertaining match and they were selling cup final tickets at half-time, which was grand aswell.
Cheers for the detailed write up, mate.

Would Limerick and Cork got a few quid for this , aside from āgateā.
Are GOING UP
Not a clue tbh.
The season went about as well as could have been expected, letās hope they can finish it out unbeaten and get a cup victory against Pats. Should be a cracking atmosphere.
And for next season, letās hope they donāt repeat the mistakes of two years ago. Get the players signed early, add a couple more, strengthen the squad and make a real impact on the Premier Division.
Anyone going along tomorrow evening? @ChocolateMice
A prior engagement means I have to wait longer for my first game at the Markets Field
Iāve been in Limerick for the last two days but heading home to Cork in three minutes. Iāll be watching on tv
Sell-out expected, the bangwagon will be well and truly rocking.
Biggest glamour day at Markets field since Kevin Keegan and Southampton ???
That said the Harps Game last year was more important.
Best of luck to Blues . For all the trouble over the past 30 years this competition has been good.
The bandwagon is in full swing, I shall be in attendance.
Possibly soā¦ the Harps game was massive too and they got the win, but it turned out to be worthless in the end. This is bigger, winning today would be huge.
The Harps win should have been at least by 2 . You felt 1 goal lead going to Ballybofey was going to be hairy .
