In fairness the draft system works really well in the NFL. The Bengals and the Chargers both spent their high draft picks really well and they’re good teams now. Kyler Murray was a first pick and now the Cardinals are good. The Jags and Texans must just be terrible organisations.

One decent draft class can set a team up for years. The Seahawks in the early 2010s and Saints in 2017 pretty much turned their teams around by hitting on 3 or 4 players in one draft.
