It was a different front office who drafted him though. He is a decent player but never should have went 8th overall. His numbers look good but he typically has a handful of monster games a season which pad the stats a bit. Probably bordering on a top 10 TE in the league but is a good bit behind the elite passer catching TEs all the same.
On one hand the Lions roster isn’t good enough to be trading away talented players, on the other hand I don’t think he would have justified the monster contract/top 5 TE money he will be looking for come the off season.
