It was 4th and ten from the bears 45 yard line. So you either have a field goal attempt from close to 60 yards well outside your kickers range , a punt for a touchback or throw it up and possibly get a first down.
Bears got an interception but possession around their own ten yard line. Punting most likely would have given them the ball on the 20. It had no material outcome on the game.
That was the moment the Lions lost the game. You could see a few of their heads dropping after the playcall
