🏈 Super Bowl XLVIII- The Path to Meadowlands
Amendola to Pats.

5 year $31 million deal that includes $10 million guaranteed…

What did welker do wrong?
Play for a shower of utter cunts, his salvation starts now.

That seriously sorts out the options for the Broncos on 3rd down.

They have addresses all major needs bar RB in free agency so should be free to take best available player in the draft. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them trading picks for a higher position next year.

Be interesting to see what Dumervil does now. One of Moreno or McGahee should be cut as well.

Think I called the Welker move to Count a few days back.

Is this fo real, homes?
Sure is, he’s not a poor man’s Welker anymore.

Bedroom chit chat doesn’t cut it on here

fucksake. cant understand that move at all. a fan poll on espn boston has 70% preferring Welker over Amendola. Seems majority wanted him staying, other then the hierarchy in Foxboro. Amendola has massive injury problems, as anyone who has him in fantasy leagues would testify to, whereas Welker is durable as fuck. On the flipside, Amendola has less drops than Welker, but at the same time, thats only clutching at straws. fucksake though, a 2 year $2million deal is fuck all in relative terms, and should easily have been matched. I was expecting him to get a 2 year $16 million deal or thereabouts.

Its a massive move for the Broncos in 2 ways. Firstly, they get the best posession slot receiver in the league, and pair him with a QB who is famed for short hard throws over the middle to favorite targets. If it works out for them, they will be unstoppable, coupled with other moves they have made. Secondly, even if it doesnt work out and Welker or Manning go shit together (extremely unlikely though), then it wont matter as it was fuck all money to spend to effectively cripple one of their main AFC rivals. Smart move by them no matter what angle you look at it, and a fucking dumb one from the Patriots. Yeah Amendola is good, Welker was pushing on and not as sure fire in the high profile games, but still, I’d prefer to keep him for another 2 years rather than Amendola for 5.

ah fuck it anyway, how do I change the name thing under the profile picture now. Just glad I didnt buy that red heritage Welker jersey I was looking at last year.

Welker obviously took less money to play with the greatest QB of all time and the distinct possibility of a Superbowl Ring!

I thought the Pats would get shot of Welker and replace him with Amendola, I called it in post 64 in this thread, but I didn’t foresee the financials. The Broncos have got a serious bargain with Wes and don’t forget the massive O-Line upgrade they also got by pinching Louis Vasquez off the Chargers. They look primed for a Super Bowl run now.

The Pats have overpaid Amendola IMO and it smacked of a desperation move to placate their angry supporters and Tom Brady. Still, the Pats will keep on rolling and if they can tie up Vollmer and get a blue chip CB signed in free agency they will be there or thereabouts again in the AFC.

That was a very impressive early call SR. Lots of kudos to you for that one. I would be even more generous in my praise if I hadn’t mentioned the same scenario also on this very thread but on the previous page in post 52.

Welker cost New England a Superbowl. the Kraft brothers don’t forget things like that.

Exactly. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Great minds 'n tha

Yeah, Amendola signing looks good on paper but you have to say that stats and injury history put a totally different view on things. The money for Amendola is crazy compared to Welker’s deal with the Broncos.
Is this just pure arrogance from the Patriots?

Amendola will have to prove he is just as tough as Welker because teams all over the league would love to put him on the shelf and laugh at the Patriots as they did it.
Between his dodgy elbow 2 years ago and collar bone this year he could easily turn into a Michael Owen figure quite quickly.

Broncos also got Rodgers-Cromartie.

Yeah Fox came out after and said it was like a double signing as they don’t have to plan to defend against Welker now. He ran riot last year.

Ed Reed is meeting with Houston Texans at present.

Pretty much no one thinks this Welker/Amendola situation was a good one.

It’s not that bad, Gman. You have Amendola and now you’re meeting with Donald Jones of the Bills today too. Will you keep Talib? A bit risky to pay him / give him a multi-year deal given he’s nuts and could die or kill someone at any moment?

:pint:

ah, its the whole set up of it though Bandage. Brady cuts his deal to give cap space, and with a very managable figure to negotiate with, they end up losing his favorite target for the last 6 years to the biggest threat to them in the AFC. Yeah Amendola is good, but you know what you get with Welker. Donald Jones, take or leave him to be honest. Wouldnt see him as an upgrade on Lloyd. They need to get in a big name on defence now they have let Welker go, otherwise the off season will prove to be a poor one overall.

Hard to know what the fuck Talib will do. Talks of him going, but it doesnt seem there is much interest in him other than the 'skins who were sniffing around. He seems to have taken into the fabled Patriot way, and its probably too cold for him in Winter to be going around being up to mischielf like in Tampa. Leon Washington is there today, as we now need a returner to fill the Welker void too. And Cribbs is also in the rumour mill.

Chiefs have let Cassel go too. Maybe we should go in for him, save some money on Bradys deal again.

No, I agree with you that it is bad. I was being face-see-shus in saying it wasn’t too bad at all.

To sum up, it is bad.

The frustration at the situation is dripping out of your last paragraph though. :stuck_out_tongue:
