Long term theyâre going to have to look to the draft for a franchise QB. Earliest that will happen will be 2014 as the quality isnât there in this yearâs pick. If the season turns out to be as disastrous as expected, theyâll have a very high pick (or could trade the likely second first-rounder theyâll get for Revis), keeping them in the mix for the Aggieâs John Manziel if heâs part of next yearâs draft class.
As for 2013, Garrard will probably beat out Sanchez in training camp, theyâll take either Mingo or Jarvis Jones with the ninth pick and put Tebow outside the Meadowlands as a corporate host.
As always with Gang Green, anything is possibleâŚ
Theyâve no real choice other than to keep Sanchez for a year anyway. With a competent set of receivers and a competent OC and a competent running game he may be ok for that year - he has won playoff games on the road before so he does have some talent if his confidence is high and his offence is functioning.
Garrard has as much chance of starting though if he stays fit for the summer.
Schefter has just tweeted that Revis has signed a 6 year deal with the Bucs that is the most lucrative ever for a defensive player but it contains NO guaranteed money!
Te-bowâŚhavenât heard of him but ill keep an eye out. Garrard was joe philbins initial starter last year before he got injured (going by hard knocks) so he surely has something in the tank. Philbin might be gormless but heâs a great qb coach. I think the d carried Sanchez to those victories even in he did execute one beautiful naked bootleg against the steelers I think. If they had a star running game he might have an 8-8 season but I doubt it. But the donât want that if theyâre thinking long term and maybe manziel.
Revis traded for the Bus 1st rounder this year, #13 overall, and a conditional mid round pick in 2014. Not quite the haul the Jets were hoping for, but as good as they were going to get IMO.
Revis signs a 6 year deal worth $16 million per annum every year of the deal yet none of this is guaranteed. The Bucs have to feel really good about this.

Wonder how the knee is holding up if thereâs no guaranteed money and a conditional pick. Thatâs as much as the Jets were realistically hoping for. The talk early on was that theyâd struggle to get a 1st round pick for him. 28 years old, coming back from a year off with an ACL, a history of holding out on contracts. Jets needed to trade him and a first round pick was probably their floor but a first round pick plus something else is a decent return. There was no other team interested either. It was an awful situation to try and trade out of.
It will be fascinating to see what the jets do with their 1st round picks on Thursday. It wouldnât surprise me to see them trading one of their 1st rounders away for a mid round pick and a 1st rounder in next years draft. I doubt they will take a QB in this years draft with Sanchize, Garrard, McElroy and Tebow on the books. And if they can get a 1st rounder in next years draft it should give them the ammo they need to trade up and get one of the blue chip prospects coming in what looks a vintage QB class next year.
Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater looks the pick of the litter at the moment. His performance against that Florida in the Sugar Bowl was outstanding. Johnny Manziel will be next off the board if he comes out despite his suspect measurables. Clemson QB Tajh Boyd and San Jose Stateâs David Fales are two other guys Jets fans should keep their eye on.

I donât think theyâll go for a QB early but they have a couple of good lower mid round picks and may go for a lower risk QB then, one of the Tylers maybe. I donât think Tebow will still be around either way.
A lot of talk that NYJ will trade up for Oaklandâs 3rd pick and take CB Dee Milliner as a replacement for Revis. Thatâll mean giving up either pick 9 or 13 to the Raiders who are after Sharif Floyd. Anybodyâs guess what the Jets will do with the other first rounderâŚBarkevious Mingo, Jarvis Jones or maybe WR Tavon Austin are strong possibilities there.
Anybody think that Luke Joekel wonât go to KC first overall? The Chiefs O-Line actually isnât that bad so there may be a surprise in store here.

I donât think weâll do that. If we trade either way I reckon weâll trade down. Jones, Mingo or Ansah as one pick with Austin or maybe a trade down with the other is my prediction.
Chargers will trade up to take one of Fisher or Lane Johnson as a replacement for Vasquez.
Itâll be interesting to see where Geno Smith lands. Surely Jacksonville cannot afford to let him slip by given their QB situation currently.
Broncos will be in for a DE/DT to replace Dumervil, unless Elway decides to sort out MLB is Tâeo is available.
Will Jacksonville not feel that they can have a pick of QBs at the start of the next round given the lack of interest in them early on. Smith is unlikely to last that long, but is he that much better than the alternatives?
Ansah would be my choice but I canât see him still being on the board come the ninth pick - Heâll go to Jacksonville or Detroit with the outside possibility of him being the first overall pick if KC donât take Joeckel, which I have a hunch they wonât.
Tyler Eifert would be a good surprise choice for Gang Green now that theyâve lost Keller at Tight End. Cumberland and Reuland are basically just linemen and whoever gets the QB gig is going to need a receiving TE.
No way Smith will last that long. They might take the chance that Barkley will, and heâs supposedly the most NFL-ready QB on the board this year, if not the one with the best skills and highest potential.
Plus there are a number of teams that will be looking to sort out that position early including the Bills. Surely the Pats might look at a project QB, Brady only has another few years on the clock.
From my reading over the last few days, thereâs still a lot of uncertainty over what the Eagles will do with the #4 pick. They need offensive line reinforcements and theyâre also moving to a 3-4 defense under Kelly and thereâs a view that they could do with a defensive tackle and outside linebacker too. Iâve even seen some pundits touting them to take Geno Smith to add to the massed QB ranks. Chip Kelly will be very familiar with the players at least - he worked with yer man Dion Jordan at Oregon and heâs one of those linked with us.
Lots of respected pundits now saying the Chiefs will take Eric Fisher with the first pick, if they canât manage to trade Albert to the Fish I can see this happening. If the trade does get done they will surely take Joeckel.
The Browns would seem to me to be the best landing spot for Geno Smith, but heâll be a reach at #6 and the Browns donât have a second round pick. There will be shit lots of horse trading done tonight and it wouldnât surprise me if the Browns traded out of the first round then traded back in to get Smith.
