thats it really. The selector wasnt even doing the usual throwing away the ball or preventing the quick sideline, he was standing in the technical area at his dug out looking out the field. And Malones actions, as from your screen shot, show him shoving him sideways, so its not as if the ball was directly behind him or anything, it was a pure heat of the moment thing and as you say, clearly didnt intend for it to be as serious, but if it stops this sort of bullshit, both from players and backroom teams, then it would be a good thing. The sweep sweepery over on the clare forum is class.

pictures 3, 4 and 5 on his screenshots show him in the act of shoving the selector.
I would apportion 50% of the blame to the mule shouting “GO ON JAMIE, GO ON JAMIE” as he hunted down the Tipperary player.
Ah ya, he was well out of order from those shots. The red card decision seemed baffling in light of comments after the match but it was obviously well justified. A 3 game suspension would seem about right.
A Tipperary referee said to me yesterday, this might finally force backroom teams up into the stands where they belong.
As regards, Malone. His comment was, he got a Red Card. He obviously didn’t mean to hurt Shane but he came into contact with him in an aggressive manner as the Card showed.
I’ve no serious issue with Malone or the Clare Football panel. The bottom line is the lack of Emergency Services ( a fucking Ambulance ) at the Ground for a National League Game.

Picture 6 actually shows Stapleton standing, after getting back up from the incident, it would appear he was up like a shot.
Fair play to the referee for sending him off purely on the basis of pushing an opposition mentor.

He jumped up like a shot … but couldnt walk the 200m to the hospital. Shameful stuff.
It must have been a completely unnecessary, because if he was keeping the ball back or whatever the law entitles you to one shove/shoulder.
I dont see the need for selectors to be on the line shouting and roaring. You get too emotionally involved int he game, you need to be able to stand back from it and look at things objectively, not kicking every ball and hitting every shoulder with the players.
This is really all Diarmuid Connollys fault when you think about it.
