Suspicious Phone Call or Text

RIP

A call from Sri Lanka this morning

They’ve never worked so hard

The wife just rang me there

A huge, and dare I say, scarcely believable amount of criminal activity going on with my PPS number today

I got a call asking for my thoughts on cryptocurrency.

That’d be @Thomas_Brady , he’s full-time employed by Bonfire these days which is why we see less of him about here anymore

Got a call there from a UK mobile number,

Asked me was I interested in Cryptocurrencies, I said no.

Asked me had I ever heard on Bitcoin, I said no.

Asked me would I be interested in a 4 minute call from a professional trader, I said no.

Ok have a good day.

Call lasted less than 30 seconds.

You’re an awful liar.

The Mrs had a missed call from 01 number a while ago. Rang it back and it was the Economic Crime Bureau… It appears the number is their number but the scammers must be cloning it and getting you to push 1 to take you to their cunt if you answer the call… I see 5/6 people have posted about the same thing on Reddit today.

I had that call earlier from an 088 number. I listened with mounting trepidation as mentions of jail terms were outlined. I failed to press the 1 number which would have enabled me to escape further censure.

I sent a text message afterwards, the TFK mantra - go shit in your collective hats.
If I’m missing for a while it’ll be a lesson to you all, do not fuck with the economic fraud department.

I just got my first one of these calls. The American sounding robot seemed very concerned about the state of my PPS number and impending jail time. I decided not to click 1 to speak to someone about it and am back under the bed.

How do they charge you if you click through anyway? Is it the call charge or do they have one of the scammers ready with a story to try and get card detail?

Do they actually catch many people at all? You’d want to be extremely naive to fall into that trap. You’d wonder how it’s worth their while at all because it’s patently clear that most of them are hoax callers.

He isn’t half as cute as he lets on.

They are deliberately targeting naive people. They don’t want people who’ll suss them easily ringing back. That’s why it’s full of errors etc

You’d want to be extremely naive to fall for an automated voice saying you’ve been involved in a crime in North Dublin or some spiel about dodge coin.

Less than 18 months ago half the country thought the army would be patrolling the streets cos some lad with a Dub accent sent a drunk recording around WhatsApp. People are thicker than you think.
