I’ve never even seen a Mastercard, where would you get one? Visa seems standard across Irish banks

I’d say Mastercard is a very common credit card :credit_card:

Is it? I’m sure it’ll be very popular here today now :grinning:

How would you get one, I don’t think I ever had the option when I signed up for any credit/debit cards through AIB and PTSB

I had Mastercard until recently when KBC closed up. That was their debit card. I was asked the same question before, and hadn’t even twigged it to be honest. Just thought it was a strange question and said I didn’t take a receipt (which I wouldn’t unless I bought from the middle aisle)

Aren’t all the Avant cards Mastercard, formerly MBNA? I’d say there’s haypes of them just not in Trackie’s wallet

I’ve a Revolut card that I use for my cross border transactions. That’s a MasterCard too

Is that how it goes? banks only issue one type of card, visa or Mastercard I suppose?

Anybody on TFK use a Mastercard day to day?

My revolut is visa, do they mix it up?

That’s my understanding but I could be wrong. The An Post debit card is MasterCard but the three main Irish banks seem to be all Visa now. I don’t know what Ulster Bank were as I never had an account with them

Yeah, Revolut and Avant issue Mastercard CCs.

BOI are all Mastercard. It’s probably the most common card in Ireland. :man_shrugging:

BOI are MasterCard for credit and Visa for debit card I think?

My revolut is Mastercard. My credit card is Mastercard. My BoI debit card is Visa.

My revolut was Visa but I think they switched over to Mastercard

Mine is MasterCard :man_shrugging:

Both the virtual and the real card (they both have different numbers)

Yep, discussion was centred around credit cards I believe.

Not sure if that was ever stipulated by the original poster mate.

Edit: @Fagan_ODowd’s follow on post did stipulate credit card.

Mea culpa

My apologies , I didn’t think many people used credit cards anymore but again I’m probably completely wrong :man_shrugging:

Sure you are completely wrong, you said no one in Ireland had a Mastercard. Half the adult population do.

Use the credit card all the time and clear the debt regularly from the current account. Whatever about some cunt having a bit of fun on my credit card I’d have a horror of my current account being cleaned out.

A lot of banks in the UK are switching to Mastercard because Visa were/are charging huge fees. Either to the banks or to retailers to process the payments.
