Suspicious Phone Call or Text

We have a credit card but try not to use it for crept in an emergency, which is often enough.

I tend to call debit cards credit cards which may explain something.

Another interesting observation I’ve made here though is that BOI seems very popular, I’d have thought AIB was by far the most popular Irish bank, TSB in Munster

BoI came up to our school and gave us all a bank book with £1 in it. That was me set up with a bank for life. For a variety of reasons I had my mortgage with AIB, a tracker mortgage. I’d say it beggared the cunts.

I’d use a credit card rather then a debit card as much as possible. It’s the bank’s money until you pay the credit card bill.

Yes, we’ve established that BOI credit cards are the most popular card in Irish wallets/purses :man_shrugging:

I’d say a lot do that. Use the credit card rather than debit and clear it before the end of the month. Get free credit for all purchases.

I’m Visa with Revolut, Mastercard debit card with An Post and Avant Credit card is also Mastercard

Same we use the Credit card mainly for petrol and any online purchases, always clear the full balance monthly, they never make anything off us then.

Mine is still visa anyway v unusual never got the option to get mastercard

I got a Stephen Roche BOI account the year he did the treble. Got me a free yellow jersey and all. They had me for life.

The aer lingus boi cc is the job, use that and clear every month. Build points for free flights.

Would you have to spend much to get free flights?

Yes, when you put through 5k on the card you get 2 free return flights to europe. When you spend €4 you get 1 airmile point. 4000 will get you a 1 way flight to paris etc.

Very common one that. They advertise on the radio that it’s a hoax.

I have been skimmed three times over the years. All with tsb cards. Bank was very good each time. I don’t know where or how it happened.

I have credit card with a relatively low limit that I use for flights (was recommended as the way to do flights for some reason I have forgotten) and for spend when travelling.

Not the Effie scam
The other one ?
E flies around for yonks alright
But the other one mentioned that’s a snaky one

Some credit cards provide insurance on flight/travel costs. Can chargeback on a credit card as last resort also.

Elderly neighbour almost got caught rotten with the “hi mum” message last week. Had sent on photos of card but her own stupidity saved her as she had no bank app and couldn’t approve anything they were asking her to approve. A close call.
