Sweden v Ireland & Ireland v Austria - International Football Double Header

Well done Ireland. Delighted with that point.

Great save from Forde at the end. Lot’s of positives to take out of that, 3 points against Austria will put us in with a shout of getting second.

Coleman would have been my mom but then again I could be a little biased

Never heard of him.

The Irish team that finished

Forde
Coleman
JOSH
Clark
Wilson
Keogh
McCarthy
Green
Walters
Wes
Sammon

The team is regenerating to quite an extent. Changed times. Stand outs for me were, from the back, Forde, Coleman, Green, McCarthy and McClean. Shame Wes didnt get a longer stint, done some nice things, but final ball let him down two or three times. I’d fear for Clark, JOSH, Green, etc, but in fairness, they weren’t caught out by an average enough side to be fair. Keane was gone 5 minutes into the second half, dunno how Walters lasted the 90, a thankless task perhaps, but he was quite poor overall. Would have liked to see Wes on earlier. All in all, its 2 points dropped for Sweden, and we’re still in the hunt.

Who would’ve been your dad then?

That Swedish comeback against the Krauts will hurt us yet. :frowning:

Really battled for that result, we’re no world beaters but we’re, by and large, tough to play against.

I’ve never found out…babes

Happy with that no reason we couldn’t turn them over at home

Don’t let it get to you now, sugartits

I’ll despair if Whelan comes straight back into the team for McCarthy. We need to build the side around players like McCarthy who are well able to pass it as well as do the nitty gritty like tracking back.

The back four and 'keeper were actually very solid tonight. McClean did well and it was harsh to take him off, we lost a threat when he was subbed. Tuesday now is crunch.

Lads that Celtic fella Lustig or whatever is some useless bag of shit. Absolutely destroyed

Fucking typical RTE! No post match analysis and instead cut straight to some weird programme with 3 drunk oul lads arguing with an utter simpleton asking them idiotic questions.

Coleman was by far the best fullback on the field tonight.

Manuela.

This translator is pointless, he understand the questions perfectly.

Vindication for the manager. Again.

Some shit part qualified Sindo journalist will be on the phone to Richie Sadlier now. The poor cunt has probably already filed his article for Sunday but now he’ll have to ghost write an alternative one.

Robbie Keane was immense tonight.

Those rugby football cunts could learn a lot from proper Irish men like Paul Green.

Trap deserves a lot of praise for tonight. As do the players. He gets flak when he deserves it so he deserves some credit when it’s warranted.

Keane battled well but didn’t think he was immense to be honest. Desperately need to kick on from this result and beat Austria now. Win that and we’ve a decent chance of getting second.

A positive night in the round. Decent result, decent performance. Our deficiencies in creativity were shown up, but not a whole pile we can do about that. I’d still like to see Hoolahan start ahead of Robbie, though Robbie did put in a good shift tonight. I think he could have more impact coming off the bench at this stage, though with so many of the senior players now gone his experience would be missed in the starting XI.

Perhaps Trap’s detractors might reflect on his record in away qualifiers considering the players he has available to him.
