Mick McCarthy
So when it comes down to it, what we seem to be agreeing on is that there were changes that a blind man could see needed to be made, yet the manager didn’t make them, and not for the first time.
Trapattoni has been winging it for a long time now. His selection policy is disastrous, his man management and ability to make changes on the line when needed are non-existent. The chickens came home to roost in a big way in the last 20 minutes last night.
And to think we could have had Mick McCarthy, Ireland’s greatest ever manager, managing us last night if the change had been made in October. Now a great chance at World Cup qualification is likely to be sacrificed because of the manager’s stubborn and outdated approach.
In some ways it should have been sacrificed from the start, with a new man in charge with the view to developing a young squad for the next euros. Whelan, Sammon etc and even Keane are not the future, and granted we want to be at the biggest party in the world, but we have to be a bit more constructive and forward thinking with the limited resources we have. It’s great to see McCarthy and the likes playing regularly, but what are they learning under Trap? The man is a dinosaur…
I also lend my support to those calling for Mick McCarthy to be reappointed as Ireland manager.
The time for Chris Hughton is now.
+1
+2
+3 he’s the only one I know who can save us from this charlatan now
Bring the North Country Boy home.
Do ye want Gary Breen back too?
No. He’s retired, don’t be ridiculous
Exactly
Exactly what? Big Mick isn’t retired Gary Breen is.
The clapTrap apologists have run for the hills today-very quiet around here. I don’t blame them-hard to defend the indefensible. Bring back Stan Staunton.
The only Ireland manager in history never to have been beaten at home in a competitive match.
Legend.

The only Irishman to play in EVERY game we have played in the World Cup finals. Fluent in the English language.
Surely the hand of destiny will soon be touching Roy Keane on the shoulder? Not only would he get the team playing properly but he would also be just the man to oversee the root and branch reform needed in the FAI.
Glad to see Bandage back in the Trap Out! camp:clap:

Whoah. Let’s not go nuts here. He has a working knowledge of it. But that was good enough to do the job, and do the job Stan most certainly did.

Once McCarthy gets inevitably sacked by his latest poor unfortunates I can see it coming down to a head to head once again between himself and Maurice.
Maurice Pratt?

I’d prefer an Irishman to get the job next time so that would rule out Roy Keane and it’s why I’m firmly in the Big Mick camp. I just hope there’s some way that both Ian “Taff” Evans and Terry Connor could be in his management team.
