Beautiful out there today lads. Went for a lunchtime dip. Crisp and with lovely sets of powerful clean waves. Also tried out my new winter swimming hat. Basically a wetsuit material hat. UNBELIEVABLE!
That was class. Eddie is one of our own id say
Fortyer looks very quiet this morning
It was quiet enough. Mrs. Fran goes down regularly (wahey) and says it’s been mental busy but the miserable morning kept a lot of them away today. Still plenty of DRWs down there all the same
Downright wankers? Dublin road workers?
Dry Robe Wankers
As in just turn up togged out in a robe and don’t bother going in?
Turning up in one these things, standing around guffawing with the rest of your DRW mates, get in for a swim or not, doesn’t really matter. The main focus is to be seen in your expensive dryrobe
generally worn by the folks in the big houses next to the swimming holes. not for them the vagaries of trying to use a towel in a 40 kt wind
It’s a natural evolution from baselayers. I still remember running cross country in a singlet and shorts in muck shit and piss as a kid in winter. Horizontal sleet. Body freezing. Lungs burning. Race would be over. Back into a wet tracksuit to wait until all the races to under 18 and senior. Cross country was from under 8s up - 300m was under 8. Increased to 600m at 9 etc. Nothing to warm myself but a super can of Coke or if it was really cold a cup of soup. I still think it was amongst hardest things I ever did. I decided to exclusively become a sprinter at 11 and retired from cross country.
you wont build resilience wearing a dryrobe, but youll spends thousands to be lectured by a charlatan about it.
Very true. As David Goggjns says you need to build mental calluses by just doing hard things.
That photo really evokes the curglaff.
