Swimmix

I drove out to the main beach in Portrane yesterday evening and pretty much had the beach to myself. Tide was out though and had to walk about 750 metres out to get water up to my waist, I was half way to lambay island at that stage. Got a noble pizza and pint of porter in the pub there afterwards.

Will try the tower beach next time

That’s the Guillomene Swimming Cove outside Tramore. My favorite place to swim.

Fanore was smothered in them after the tide went out.

Spotted plenty in the water today in Lehinch but it wasn’t terrible.

The stings aren’t too bad off them purple lads except when you get one in the face. Ouch.

I was in Fanore yesterday and tracht today, both riddled with the bastards. Purple bastards.

Yeah portrane beach is a bit strandy. Tower bay has a decent incline so it gets deep quickly although beach area is stony but you hit sand once in the water. Waves can be mental though.

Haven’t been to the pub - The Brook is it? Pizzas are excellent from that van.

Yeah Brooks or the Brook I think, right beside the beach entrance. Was nice down there, good few bodies milling about but no problem getting parking right by the beach or a table outside the pub.

Guinness was good too

Low Rock was unreal this evening. There was a Spanish wan doing 200m laps around the buoy who was off the richter. Water like a warm bath

Lovely early morning swim there in the Guillomene

Any sign of the Delta variant down there? The virus loves Waterford at the moment apparently.

West Waterford only so far :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:. Dungarvan and all points north and west of it.

Don’t think I’ve ever had it all to myself before

Blackrock has been noticeably quieter this year.

It’s been mental here since lockdown, all sorts of swimmix coming out of the woodwork

Was absolutely mental in Galway last year. Much quieter this year.
