Down obsessed with trying to work goals when it was still a one or two point game, not a realistic style of senior football for me

Leinster’s iron grip on the prestigious Tailteann Cup tightens.
I’d imagine Offaly are early favourites for next year’s edition.

Lovely fake laugh from Damien there

Colm o Rourke deliriously happy. Fair play to him.

‘Now is the time for drinking’

Great first two years for the Tailteann Cup.
First a so called weaker (an actual weaker) county takes it seriously, wins it against a sleeping giant also taking it seriously, celebrate it and and a crowd turns for the homecoming. They perform very creditably in the Sam Maguire the following year.
Second year a sleeping giant take it seriously and beat another sleeping giant in the final. The fact that their manager is a proper legendary member of the gaa establishment and seems delighted will also help it gain a greater foothold. If he’s taking it seriously why can’t we. This will have a big knock on effect in next year’s league too.

A fairly disappointing performance in the final from Down after a steady build up throughout the year. Good to see Meath get a bit of glory, Leinster counties have had a very rough decade of it with Dublin crushing all hopes but now Westmeath and Meath players have both got something to show from it all.
Downs issues are probably best highlighted by the fact they used 48 different players throughout the season, 69 different lads have worn the jersey over the past 2 seasons. It’s not that lads are opting in and out of the panel, it’s simply that an abundance of average footballers are being produced with very little quality. The conditioning Saturday was poor, but I don’t know how you get it right when using that amount of players. The one bright spot is that they done everything they did this year without the best player in the county, Barry O’Hagan got a horrible injury in the first league game and that was his year over. If he comes back to the sort of level he is capable of he will make a massive difference.

Mouthwatering stuff

Unbelievable excitement for this. A tournament that isnt a foregone conclusion, and hasn’t been financially doped by Croke Park. And shurlookit, we all remember the goalfest it was last year.

Can’t wait for the neutral venue ties between the 3 and 4 seeds.

Vibrancy.

Limerick v Carlow @The Ragg
Wicklow v Tipperary @New Ross
Wexford v London @St Colmcille’s GAA Pitch Cardiff
Longford v Waterford @ Abbeyleix

The future of Gaelic football as a sport in most of the country rests almost entirely on the success of this competition. And I don’t think thats actually an exaggeration

Would like to see London-Wexford in Pittodrie.

Hopefully Wexford will get a chance to “exact some revenge” on Leitrim after the ghost penalty
