My taxi driver from the airport yesterday was an Indian gentleman. Normally when I’m getting a taxi from the airport and tell the surly Dub that I’m only going to Sutton and he’ll only be getting 25 notes there is a stony grudging silence all the way.
This wasn’t the case with George who appeared happy to have me in the cab. He chanced an opening about cricket and when it appeared that I had some knowledge of the game we were away in a hack. Chatted all the way about great games we had seen, the shite that is 20/20 and the IPL. His son is on the Irish under 17 panel. A grand trip.

It’s Christmas Day for the students in Limerick tomorrow and about 100 drivers are planning to not be online for it.
What is the actual issue with knowing the price up front? It’s been like that on the mainland always afair.

Always thought their fight back over card payments was hilarious, we all knew it was tax related. But citing the banks only paying them days later etc. Do the rest of us get paid immediately per job we do in work?

They can’t fiddle the fare after. I’ve had to request a few refunds with uber where drivers have somehow added a €10-15 extra to the fare.

You actually pay the fare up front on the mainland now, before you’re collected.
