You can see why the drivers are striking so.
Thank fuck ive my SPSV exam’s done, this will cause a right upheaval.
It’s a bit of a grey area.
Uber’s stance on it would be that its compliant with the regulations as the passenger is guaranteed to pay no more than the metered amount.
Interesting. Uber is basically trying to offer take it out leave it cheaper fares then. Drivers seem 100 percent right to protest to me. Uber has a long history of being a horrible company.
TNH
That’d be highly illegal
Uber craic?

Old hen will have to do
Sure aren’t we only one of the few countries uber operates in that only taxi driver can drive ubers in? Cake and eating it
Uber is a great service here on the continent. Fixed price no bother. I’m in an Uber right now.
The Irish tax union should have gotten Nathan Fir You in with an elaborate idea to take down uber.
I had a taxi driver from Rwanda last night.
Can you believe the neck of the prick coming here in the mid 90’s to escape the war in his home country which killed his father and two brothers?
Also him working in IT for years before being made redundant and then continue working by driving a taxi?
Would you believe that he married an Irish woman and raised twins?!
Bloody immigrants.
I doubt we’re one of the only ones. It’s the reason Uber wasn’t allowed operate on England for years. There’s background checks for taxi driver licenses for obvious reasons. Uber set up in lots of places bypassing this. Essentially providing the same service but not adhering to the regulations. Uber’s position was it’s just a platform, not our job to make sure the drivers are licensed etc. There have been a number of cases of rapes by Uber drivers. Again, company says it has no responsibility, just a platform, we never said the driver was safe, not our responsibility, etc. Dragged through the courts in a few companies and lost. This whole set price thing seems another effort to undercut/bypass regulation. Low enough market share in ireland so they’re probably trying to do it to up their usership and no doubt the prices will edge up once they do. They’re a rotten company.
Sounds like you had a very lucky escape there.
Yawn
Lighten up
