How Times have changed . Whatever happened to sleeping a few hours at a city centre bus stop and waiting for first bus in morning after a college night out ?!
Taxi here , taxi there.Thats the way it’s gone now .

I once paid for the Mrs and her sisters taxi to the airport on Free Now and the druver also took the cash from my Mrs.

Had to email Free Now to get the money back.

That’s how Uber works as well

The fixed price wasn’t there before.

So it showed you an estimate and charged your card the higher end of the estimate before the journey. The driver turns on the meter when you set off and upon arrival would enter the meter amount on to the app. Depending on the amount you would either get a refund on the card or have to pay extra.

With the fixed price you pay the amount as shown. If the meter value is less you get a refund but the customer won’t get charged more if it goes above.

Uber drivers in the UK don’t have a meter. They completely rely on the app.

I’d drive the odd night for uber if they were here

In a few years you can go to work and send your driverless car off to uber for you as a second job

Or asking the sergeant if you can go back for a nap in the cells till the buses start running again… only to find that there has been a shift change when you wake the second time and the new lad wants to send you to court…

Another protest planned for this evening against the fixed fares.

The Taxi Drivers could stop using Uber completley or turn off the setting to be offered fixed fare jobs :man_shrugging:

The Carkie driver’s have sold out their Dublin brothers and have refused to join their protest. @Corksfinedtboy What has happened to ye at all?

I used the fixed fare last weekend.

Depending on traffic its about a 4 to 6 minute drive home from the pub.

Fixed fare worked out at €7.76 while the meter fare is usually closer to €12

Nobody forcing a driver to offer Uber?

I guess there will always be some who will break the boycott and take the jobs on offer.

I’m not sure why uber hasn’t been tackled on this. There’s legislation around taxi pricing and if uber has gone outside that they should be tackled.
