Ballance could open.
Moving somebody that is scoring runs at three seems like a horrendous idea. Bollocks of a position to fill successfully. England were shite there for years until Trott.
I’d say Strauss is only going through the motions with this meeting.
What about Root coming back up the order?
Jaysus …you can’t turn that away ,…who else has knocked 300+ against LCCC ???
What a stand with DUNN !!! wing man of the year DUNN
As I say, I reckon he’s just a stooge for Graves in that role. He mustn’t have really enjoyed the commentary gig, and regretted not taking the job last year when they gave it to Downton. Therefore he was ready to accept any terms to get a foot in the door at a relatively high level within the ECB. Graves will be there for five years tops probably. Strauss will have networked the shit out of it in that period, and will be ready to ascend to the throne of King of the Old Boys Club at that stage, where he will happily reign for 20 years or so. Graves in the meantime gets to be the gruff Yorkshireman having a great laugh pulling the strings of a posh Southern boarding school type. It’s win win.
Freddy says not !!!
Yip kid has balls and has bounced back
A more palatable option alright. They probably still eye him long term as an opener. There is a feeling that dicking around his position in the order hurt him in his first couple of years in the team though, and they’ll be loathe to move him unless they have to. It’s possibly what happens if they lose a few games in the summer alright though.
Next captain of England … From GODS OWN COUNTY !!!
WOW WHEEL OF HEAVEN !!! FREAKING AMAZING , and the pressure !!!

KP TOLD HE HAS no England future …Andrew Strauss your a useless spineless Cunt !!! …
Strauss you cunt, he has no credibility after this
The ECB really make a thundering clusterfuck of everything they touch.
Hope australia fucking lash them now !!! Fickle as fuck but I’m sick here !!!
Booooooooo
I’m sure New Zealand and Australia are bricking it.
It would be a bad move. Root did not perform well or look comfortable opening the batting when he was previously asked to fulfill that role in the 2013 Ashes series. Australia were so bad in that series, it didn’t particularly matter. He hit 180 in the 2nd innings at Lord’s (when the pressure was off as Swann had already won the test in the first innings, skittling out Australia to give England a 250’ish first innings lead). Aside from that, Root scored less than 20 on 7 occasions in 10 innings. After the form he showed batting at 5 in the Caribbean it would be madness to move him back up the order. They really should have blooded Adam Lyth against the Windies instead of that bizarre decision of Trott opening the batting.
When you look at Australia persevering with the veteran Chris Rogers, largely because of a similar lack of opening batsmen, can’t help feeling England were a bit hasty in discarding Michael Carberry. He wasn’t the worst performer in Australia last year by any means.
