Test Match Cricket

Don’t know. Thought they should have done it half an hour ago.

Australia declare on 481/7. Nominal target of 398 for England. From 122/8 early on day 1, Australia have since scored 649/9. Madness for England to take such a risk with Jimmy Anderson and then break down inside 4 overs.

Many overs left today?

Half an hour of play. Probably 7 overs.

Will they start with a spinner?

I’d say they’ll give Lyon at least two overs before stumps. Be fairly demoralising for England if he picked up a wicket this evening after Moeen Ali’s performance with the ball.

It’s been tough going for the seamers throughout this test. Probably a combination of slack English batting and Lyon picking up wickets needed for Australia to win this.

England 8/0 after 3 overs. Lyon straight into the attack second over.

10/0 after five overs. It is just two more overs left today.

11/0 after 6 overs. Lyon seen off for today. Pattinson to bowl the last over of the day.

England survive to stumps with all 10 wickets intact. 13/0. Australia might have missed a trick by not bowling another 7 or 8 overs at England this evening.

Rory Burns will seemingly be the first English player to bat on all five days of an Ashes test since 1977.

Arrogance. Broad and Anderson can do what they like.

Woakes only bowled seven overs today which would suggest that he’s injured as well. Wood is already out of the series, Anderson presumably now as well and Archer is only returning from injury. It’s looking pretty grim for England.

Root is a really bad captain. He was awful in the field today.

Rory Burns out in the third over of the morning but England have survived the rest of the first hour intact. This Joel Wilson is the worst umpire I’ve ever seen. Root was given out there after the usual histrionics from the cheating Australians despite a clear inside edge. Overturned on review.

9 overs bowled in the first hour is just pitiful from the Australians. Maybe if they weren’t constantly appealing, they’d keep up with the required over rate and enhance their prospects of bowling England out.

Roy has thrown away his wicket. Charging Lyon and completely misjudging it. A one day run chase type of dismissal. Not many of this English side have the aptitude or application for what’s needed to save a test on Day 5.

Lyon’s third wicket of the morning is the big one, Root. 85/4. All over.

Feature on Kev Petersen on sky now.

Living back in south africa

I’d say it’s a good guess that most former Eire international soccer players live in the UK.

Which is the opposite of this situation. He worked in England but the minute the money dries up goes home. Comes across as a mercenary
